Obituary of Gladys Vammen

Gladys B (Helland) Vammen, of Melbourne, FL, formerly of Audubon, PA, passed away on July 14, 2020 in her home at the age of 86 years. She was being lovingly cared for by her daughter, Connie and Hospice of Wuesthoff. Gladys was born September 20, 1933 in Binford, ND, the daughter of Hjalmer and Julia (Gilbertson) Helland. The family moved to Hannaford, ND when she was of school age. She grew up on the family farm, the youngest of 7 children. She graduated from Hannaford High School in 1951. She married, lived in Nebraska, then the family moved to Audubon, PA where she was employed by Component Enterprises of Norristown, Pa until her retirement in 2015 at the age of 82, then moved to Florida. Gladys attended Zion Lutheran Church of Spring City, PA for 47 years and was very active there. She served on the altar guild setting up for services. She volunteered for several committees; helped out with the kitchen breakfast and decorated the church for Christmas programs. Her special interest was participating in various children's programs. She is survived by a daughter Connie (Vammen) DePietropaolo and one son Charlton (Chuck) Vammen, 5 grandchildren Jennifer, Richard, Nicole, Tiffany, and Jason and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Gordon Helland of Kalispell, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hjalmer and Julia Helland and one son Calvin Vammen, 2 brothers, Howard and Arthur and 3 sisters, Myrtle, Sylvia, and Irene.
