Obituary of Patricia Violet Bernett

Patricia Violet Bernett, 96, passed away peacefully at home on May 31, 2021 surrounded by loving family. Pat was born August 7, 1924 in London, England, daughter of the late Charles and Margret (Barry) Dore’. She met her loving husband, Leroy Harvey Bernett, in London, England while he was serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. They were married in England on March 25, 1944 and shared 58 happy years together. Leroy preceded her in death November 17, 2002. Pat was a stay at home mom to her children and took pride in her home making. She was a fantastic baker and everyone looked forward to her cakes and cookies. Pat and Leroy loved to travel and any chance they got they moved overseas with Leroy’s Civil Service job. Pat was very active in the Officers Wives Club in Aviano, Italy, she taught English to Korean Nationals while living in Seoul, Korea, and she also took part in escorting Amerasian orphans to their adoptive parents in other countries. She was an active member of her bowling league in Goose Bay Labrador, loved to travel, and had a deep love for her dogs. She spent the last years of her life enjoying Bingo and Penny poker at Town Square Assisted Living. Pat will be deeply missed by her loving family, daughter Pam Cox and husband Bobby Cox of Germany, son Roy Bernett of Monrovia, California, daughter Patty Beadle and husband Darryl Beadle of Crawfordville, Florida, and daughter Shari Gradt and husband Kevin Gradt of Melbourne, Florida. She also leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Pat was proceeded in death by her parents, Clarence Charles Dore’ and Margaret Mary Dore’, her husband Leroy Harvey Bernett, her daughters, Laureen Bernett, Cindy Tenneson, Colleen Dykins and son David Bernett. The family wishes to thank the staff of Town Square for their wonderful care of Pat while she resided there and also thank her team at Wuesthoff Hospice for being such amazing support to Pat and Shari and family this last year. Family and friends will be gathering for her celebration of life on Saturday, July 17 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1608 Baker Ct. Panama City, Florida 32401.
